POSITION OVERVIEW: The Assistant Controller will report directly to the Vice President of Finance and is responsible for overseeing Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash Application, Leasing, and all other Accounting functions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Oversees Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash Application, Leasing, and all other Accounting functions
  • Mentors and develops employees in all financial roles
  • Develops and maintains a positive work environment
  • Acts as backup to VP of Finance for check approvals
  • Assists VP of Finance with all financial decisions, audits and requests from Global Imaging
  • Assists VP of Finance with preparation of annual budget
  • Assists VP of Finance with special projects
  • Assists VP of Finance with internal and external audits
  • Ensures compliance with the tax authorities for income, sales, property and business license taxes
  • Ensures proper and timely closing of the company's books on a monthly and annual basis
  • Establishes, reports and trains managers on relevant financial information
  • Ensures all department, company, and governmental guidelines and laws are in compliance
  • Monitors Accounts Receivable and Payable aging
  • Monitors inventory processes to optimize productivity and profitability
  • Seeks productivity enhancements through use of software tools
  • Travels to ComDoc branches, Global Imaging Headquarters and/or other Global units as required
  • Works evening and weekend hours during peak periods

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises Accounting, AR, AP, Cash Application and Leasing employees. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; conducting monthly plan and reviews; completing annual appraisals; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or University. Minimum 10-12 years of related experience with progressively more responsibility. MBA or CPA preferred.

 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Must have advanced computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Excel and other office products. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to make effective presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management.
