SUMMARY

The Jr. Accountant reports to the Accounting Manager and is responsible for providing financial, administrative, and analytical services to support the organization. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, month end close process, financial reporting, and process analysis. They will be exposed to and interact with all levels within the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs analytical and administrative functions to support Accounting and AP
  • Responds to Accounting Manager and CFO with accurate and timely work to facilitate the financial reporting needs of the company
  • Utilizes various computer financial information systems in the preparation of analyses, evaluations, and reports relating to assigned areas
  • Assists with production of internal financial statements and reports for management
  • Prepares ad-hoc analysis of operating results to assist the decision-making process
  • Back up to accounts payable and expenditure functions
  • Responsible for reconciling cash balances
  • Participates in a variety of special projects and compiles an assortment of reports as requested
  • Reconciles and financially codes the monthly Corporate credit card activity, including management of the Corporate Travel Account
  • Processes bi-weekly expense reimbursement amounts in accordance with Corporate policy for payment via payroll
  • Assumes responsibility for effectively researching, tracking, and resolving (or properly referring) accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential
  • Other duties as assigned by Accounting Manager

QUALIFICATIONS (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED)

  • Strong problem solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills
  • General knowledge of applicable accounts payable/general ledger systems and procedures, financial chart of accounts, and corporate procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
  • Possess strong organizational, time management, and follow-up skills
  • Self-motivated and reliable
  • Strong work ethics and ability to handle confidential information in a discreet, professional manner
  • Maintains current job knowledge and trends

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including but not limited to:
    • Pivot tables
    • Vlookup statements
  • Intermediate Microsoft Suites Outlook, Word, and Visio skills
  • E-Automate/automated procurement processing preferred but not required

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or
  • Minimum Associate's degree in Accounting with 0-2 years related work experience

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • English (reading, writing, verbal)

MATH SKILLS

  • Intermediate business math required

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to work overtime during peak time periods
  • Some travel may be required
