Senior level engineer specializing in storage area network (SAN) and virtualization solutions including server and blade architecture design and implementation. Responsibilities include delivering advanced business and technology consulting advice to customers, sales team and management to include:
- Translate customer requirements into technical solutions.
- Conduct site surveys and customer interviews to capture detailed technical requirements.
- Perform in-depth technical designs for server, virtualization, and SAN architecture solutions to include detailed design reviews with customers.
- Finalize Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Inventory, pre-stage, configure, and install equipment.
- Conduct knowledge transfer w/customers.
- Complete training per development plan and maintain certifications in accordance with focus areas.
- Complete administrative tasks (expenses, time reporting) in timely fashion.
- Identify, rectify and communicate effectively any issues the customer may have regardless of technical nature as it relates to customer satisfaction.
This position is primarily dispatched throughout the Richmond area; however it may be dedicated to a customer’s site for extended periods of time.
EDUCATION
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Preferred: Two/Four-year college degree or degree from Vocational/Technical Institute in related field of industry.
EXPERIENCE
Primary focus will be as a Server, Storage, and Virtualization Systems engineer.
Required: 3 years experience designing, implementing and maintaining Fiber Channel and iSCSI SAN (HP, Dell, and/or EMC) and Blade Server architectures and 2 years experience designing, implementing and maintaining virtual architecture solutions.
Preferred: 3 years experience in dense server environments and Storage Area Networking (SAN) designing or maintaining Data Center technologies to include designing and implementing virtualization solutions (e.g., VMware and Citrix). HP and Dell blade systems experience preferred.
Secondary focus will be on Windows networking solutions - Microsoft Windows Server and Exchange. Experience with Active Directory, MS Server 2007 required, 2008 preferred. Experience with migrations, upgrades and MS Unified Communications a plus.
CERTIFICATIONS
Active MCSE 2003 or better certification required. Master SAN architect and additional experience/certifications with Symantec Backup and Archival solutions desired.
